Hello!
I’m Val, a college student at the University of Houston and i’m Houston born and raised. Houston has a impressive cultural tapestry and unparalleled gastronomic diversity that makes the city a true culinary hub. From the rich, savory flavors of Tex-Mex and authentic Vietnamese pho to innovative fine dining and soul food, Houston offers a staggering range of cultural cuisines—it’s a city where you can genuinely eat your way around the world. When im not in the studio going crazy about my next design project, I like exploring the city’s vibrant, sprawling dining scene. As a foodie I have some choice opinions about some of the restaurants around the city, and I like having this space to share it all! I hope at least a few people find my recommendations helpful.
Houston isn’t just a big city; it’s a gastronomic mosaic unlike any other. Recognized as one of the most diverse cities in the United States, that diversity is best tasted right here on the plate. From the smoky pits of legendary Texas barbecue in the Spring Branch area to the incredibly rich and authentic array of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean joints that make up our robust Asian Food scene, and the countless family-owned Mexican and Tex-Mex spots, Houston offers a passport for your palate.
Whether you’re navigating the trendy, tight-knit dining rooms of Montrose and The Heights or exploring the burgeoning spots in EADO, every neighborhood serves as a new chapter in the city’s culinary story, making it the perfect place to explore global food culture one meal at a time.
